LG Revolution May Come With Netflix Pre-Loaded
A new document has suddenly appeared that suggests that the often mentioned LG Revolution may pack one more surprise than we expected when it finally lands on shelves: an actual, pre-installed, and long-awaited Netflix app.

Actual working Netflix for Android has been something of a catch as catch can sort of affair, with most of the sightings taking place at trade shows, but this represents one of the first times Netflix has been connected to an Android phone in a pre-loaded capacity. Some might find it unusual that it’s the LG Revolution getting gifted with the hotly-anticipated Netflix app, but it actually makes some sense.
The LG Revolution, by way of recap, boasts a 4.3 inch screen, with a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor running Android 2.2 and packing a five megapixel camera to boot. It’s also got an HDMI output, which changes the game considerably.
Clearly, the LG Revolution isn’t likely to be mistaken for a power phone like, say, the iPhone or the Nexus S. In fact, looking at that pic above, and the other phones the Revolution is sharing real estate with, it’s plain to see that it’s kind of lagging behind in terms of specs and features. But if you take an HDMI output, and add streaming Netflix, you’ve got a little something unique. What you’ve got is a phone that can function as a set-top box, and that by itself is likely to find it some market. Add on to this the fact that you can take it with you, and, though it’s not as powerful as other models, you’ll almost certainly get some people interested just for the mobile media aspect of things.
Hopefully this means that a full-on Android version of Netflix isn’t too far behind; there are plenty of Android users out there who’d likely love to get hands on some mobile streaming video. Bear in mind this is based on leaked documents, so anything can change from here. But for now, it’ll likely be enough to light a fire under LG Revolution potential buyers. It’s only too bad that the device’s release date is still being called “coming soon”.
