LG Optimus Black Released in Korea [LG Starts Selling Super-Slim Optimus Black Android Smartphone in South Korean Market]
LG announced its super-slim Android smartphone called the Optimus Black at CES 2011. The smartphone isn’t as high end as other recently-released LG phones, but it’s said to be among the lightest and brightest.
The TFTS staff had the chance to get a hands-on of the Optimus Black at CES this year, and based on our semi-scientific findings, the phone is indeed light, at 112 grams. It’s also thin, at 9.2 mm at its slimmest point. Apart from being lightweight, the Optimus Black features LG’s proprietary Optimus UI 2.0 and Gesture UI 2.0, which give users additional ways of navigating through content and applications over the standard Android interface.
The Optimus black boasts of a 4-inch 480×800 capacitive touchscreen featuring a bright NOVA display. The screen is not as big as the Optimus Big‘s 4.3-inch touchscreen, but it highlights a bright 700 nits, and contributes to the phone’s energy efficiency. Optimus Black also features LG’s WiFi Direct, which can be used to exchange files and data directly in between LG handsets and devices without the need for a Wi-Fi hotspot or router.
LG Optimus Black runs on a 1 GHz processor and comes with a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and will ship with Android 2.2 FroYo.
