Buffalo Introduces Shock-Resistant Hard Drives
Hard drives can be sensitive to bumps and drops. This is especially true for external hard drives, as they’re often transported in bags. Buffalo’s latest shock-resistant hard drives will help keep your data safe.
Buffalo‘s HD-PNT500U2 series includes two models of USB 2.0 hard drives with enclosure. Coming in 500 GB and 1 TB calacities, the 2.5″ hard drives come in impact-proof casings with frames and material that absorb the energy from drops and bumps. This means the hard drive can survive moderate falls without damaging the drive heads and cylinders.
The HD-PNT500U2 is not only shock-resistant. These hard drives are environmentally-friendly, too. With a software-based Eco Mode, the hard drives can reduce power consumption by about 20% without reducing transfer speed.
Buffalo’s HD-PNT500U2 will come in three colors: silver, black and red. Announced in Japan, the 500 GB model will retail for 10,600 yen (about $130) and the 1 TB model will be priced at about 14,600 yen (about $180).
