Verizon iPhone 4 Production To Be Cut? [Apple Allegedly Cutting Back Their Production Orders For CDMA iPhone, Reports From Chinese Factories Say]
We haven’t seen the mass exodus from AT&T to Verizon with the CDMA iPhone that many expected. I think this was actually much more likely, considering the cost of contract ETFs these days, and the fact that not many folks are going to jump on buying the same phone they already own for another carrier. Regardless, CDMA iPhone sales on Verizon are allegedly poor, and now, we may see Apple cutting supply of those iPhones.

DigiTimes, who reports on the tech production scene out in Asia, wrote a report yesterday about on Pegatron Technology, who was building the CDMA iPhone for Apple and was, likewise, expected to do well this quarter because we know that anything that Apple touches prints money. But, not so, as DigiTimes reports that Pegatron is reporting a loss for Q1 2011, and that the production industry is now becoming bearish on production of the CDMA iPhone.
Pegatron originally planned to produce 10 million CDMA iPhones for Apple and Verizon this year, but Apple has already cut their orders for the rest of the year, the report says.
This isn’t the first time that we’ve heard that the iPhone isn’t doing its usual outstanding pace on Verizon. Earlier this month, our executive editor Chris told you about how the HTC Thunderbolt had outsold the iPhone on Verizon. On Verizon, Apple fanatics aside, it seems that more Verizon shoppers are going for 4G and bigger screens over the 3G/3.5-inch screen of the iPhone 4.
Don’t worry, I suspect we’ll see the fifth iPhone, when it comes out for Verizon later this year, do extremely well, like it will on every other carrier.
