Amped Wireless UA600EX Offers Better Range For Your Wi-Fi Connection [Geared Toward Boats, Amped Wireless' Device Offers Hefty Range Extension With A USB Plug-In]

If you’ve ever been out traveling somewhere, wishing you could find a wi-fi hotspot somewhere in the area, and you’ve been out of range every time, then your next wish was probably for an easy plug-in device that would boost your range. Well, that’s what the folks at Amped Wireless are offering with their UA600EX adapter. In fact, what they’re offering is fully quadrupled range.

Designed for use on boats, the Amped Wireless UA600EX adapter is a relatively simple prospect. You’ll plug it in to your computer’s USB adapter, and next thing you know, you’ll have a whole new world of wi-fi possibilities open to you. It’s a single-band adapter running on the 2.4 GHz spectrum, and while they don’t specifically tell you just how far you’ll be able to get, they are suggesting a substantial improvement in range.

And while it’s intended for boats, RV owners and urbanites who want other connection options shouldn’t feel left out here–the UA600EX comes with an extra 26.5 feet of heavy cord to give you some weatherproof connection options, as well as some extra specific mounting hardware, meaning you’ll be able to hook this up to most any mobile platform you’ve currently got on hand.

While I’m not a boat owner–though I’d like to be–I’d figure having this beauty around would definitely give you a lot of options in terms of wireless internet connections available to you. And it will also give you a few extra reasons to put some password protection on your wi-fi lest someone lay hands on one of these for their more illicit internet uses and discover that you’re well in range.

So how much do you think you’ll shell out for boosted wireless internet range? The folks out at Amped Wireless are looking to get $110 per for one of these, which isn’t exactly terrible…if it works.
