Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc & Xperia Play Smartphones Now Available With Rogers

Xperia Arc & Xperia Play Come To Canada By Way Of Rogers, Both Arrive Sporting On-Contract Price Tags Of $99.99

Putting and to the rumors and coming as we had expected, Rogers has officially launched the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc and Xperia Play smartphones. Though, there was one small surprise that came with the launch.

The surprise arrived in the form of the Xperia Play — it is available in both white and/or black. Otherwise, in terms of pricing, both phones will set you back $99.99 on a three-year agreement. And for those looking to avoid making a three-year commitment, you can also opt to pay $449.99, $499.99 or $549.99 to go with two-years, one-year and contract free respectively. Of course, the obvious is there in that if you are able to go with two-years and pay $449.99 you should probably find a way to get another $100 and ditch that contract all together.

Moving past the price and we come to the specs, which again arrives as simple confirmation. One perk though comes in the form of Android, both are running Android 2.3 Gingerbread which means that (at least for a little while) those who make the purchase are not going to be waiting for an update.

As for the Xperia Arc, this handset has a 4.2 inch (854 x 480) touchscreen display, 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 8.1 megapixel camera and ships with a 16GB microSD card included in the box. In addition, the Xperia Arc is touting the Reality Display with Mobile Bravia Engine, which is noted as being the “first of its kind to feature.” In terms of the Xperia Play, this handset has a 4 inch (854 x 480) touchscreen display, 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, a 5 megapixel camera and an 8GB microSD card.

All said and done, it looks like Rogers has received two rather nice additions to their Android device lineup. In addition, Rogers also offers the Motorola Flipout, Xperia X10, Acer Liquid E, Galaxy S Captivate, Dell Streak 5 and the Samsung Nexus S in terms of Android smartphones as well as the Samsung Galaxy Tab tablet.
