Al Gore's "Our Choice" Hits iPad As Interactive Book
Remember when not so long ago we were talking about how David “Sovereign” Bowie was looking to move his albums into iPad format? Well, he’s not the only big name looking to do exactly that–turns out Al Gore’s joining in the iPad hunt with his very own book turned iPad app: Our Choice.

Said to be a sequel to An Inconvenient Truth, Our Choice once again looks at global warming and climate change and all that stuff that Al Gore is said to be fond of, with the exceptions of moon sapphires and Manbearpig. The app itself, geared toward iPhone and iPad, according to the iTunes entry, is coded by the Push Pop Press digital platform, comes with a whole load of options like expandable illustrations, audio features, animated illustrations, and over one full hour of documentary video. It’s actually being billed as the “first full-length interactive book”, which at the same time amazes and saddens me, because it’s great to see the reading public get more value, but at the same time, leaves me sad that this had to be the one we kick things off with.
No matter what side you come down on with the whole “global warming” issue (I happen to think that these things Gore describes are the results of natural fluctuations in climate, and that man’s involvement in them is minimal), there’s no denying that Gore’s new book is looking amazing. And considering that it’s set to cost just $4.99 on iTunes–which is substantially less than your average paperback book that doesn’t come with anywhere near this amount of bonus features–it will probably do pretty well. If this isn’t serving as the model of future books (not to mention showing off the incredible possibilities of the iPad as an ereader, like we talked about back last January with our big ereader list), there will be a lot of authors surprised that their stuff isn’t selling better.
