Just Add Water Breathing New Life Into Oddworld: Hand Of Odd

Man, the folks over at Just Add Water sure are busy these days. After getting the news that they would be doing an HD remake of Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee in addition to the HD remake of Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrathe that is already in production (and, unfortunately, has just been delayed to this summer), Eurogamer has revealed that company has two more games up their sleeve: they’ll be finishing a never-before-released Oddworld game, and an releasing an HD remake of Munch’s Oddysee as well.

The announcement that Munch’s Oddysee will be getting its own HD remake shouldn’t surprise anyone – after Stranger’s Wrath and Abe’s Oddysee were announced, it was only a matter of time. However, Just Add Water also said that they’ll be making Oddworld: Hand of Odd, a real-time strategy game set in the Oddworld universe that never saw the light of day. Just Add Water says that they’ll be changing the gameplay of Oddworld: Hand of Odd to mesh better with today’s Facebook-oriented gaming scene, making it more “casual rather than more intense,” so take from that what you will.

Munch’s Oddysee HD will be out in October on PS3, which is around the time that the Oddbox is set to release for the console as well. Just Add Water is looking to release Oddworld: Hand of Odd sometime in 2012, and when more details are made available about the title, we’ll be sure to let you know.
