Windows 8 Toggle Controls Get Touchy Feely [Windows 8 Screenshots Indicate Touch-Friendly Interface Similar to Windows Phone 7 Metro UI]
Apple’s iPad might be king of the hill when it comes to tablets. Android Honeycomb might be close behind. But that won’t stop Microsoft for making another aim at tablet computing.

Tablet computers have long existed before the iPad and before Android Honeycomb devices. However, most of these had interfaces that were clunky, since Windows is not designed for touch interfaces from ground up. Sure, there are some UI elements suited for pen- and touch-input, but these aren’t as user-friendly as the latest generation iOS or Android for tablets.
Recent screenshots of Windows 8 beta releases suggest that the upcoming OS will feature interface elements from the Metro UI found in Windows Phone 8. These include sliders in the settings menu, which make it easier to toggle features on or off. These are just a few of what will possibly be more tablet-friendly UI features that Windows 8 will have. According to some reports, Windows 8 will come in a variety of flavors (much like Vista and Windows 7), and that at least one of these is likely to be meant for tablet computing.
