Samsung RF712 Laptop Offers 3D, Bright And In Full HD [Powerful Samsung RF712 Gives Substantial Display Capabilities]

Whenever someone uses the phrase “gaming laptop” to describe a product the first thing I want to do is have a look at the spec list. Because generally, when someone starts talking gaming in a laptop they mean they’re going to be putting up some pretty substantial terms as far as hardware goes, and especially in the display end. Either that or they just polished things up a bit, bumped up the price tag a couple notches and tried to lure in hapless gamers. But Samsung’s new RF712 laptop doesn’t look like it’s going to disappoint anybody who wants a powerful laptop running their games.

Samsung, for its part, is saying that the 17.3 inch screen on their RF712 is going to have the brightest such display in the industry, which will in turn work to overcome the dimming that so often happens when you wear 3D glasses in conjunction with a laptop screen. They’re using their own Super Bright Plus technology, which had previously graced the Series 9 laptop, only this time they’ll be running the display in full HD (1920 x 1080 resolution). In fact, Samsung’s got this pegged at 400 nits of brightness, which is roughly double what the typical LCD display might put out.

And it’s not just a super-bright display that makes this thing worth paying attention to–the other stats on this monster include a quad-core Intel CPU, AMD HD6650M graphics backed up with two gig, a 750 gig hard drive, USB 3.0 (and USB 2.0 ports too), Blu-ray drive, and more besides.

Just looking at it is impressive enough, and considering the sheer array of features this is packing in (like a screen sufficiently bright to pretty much not care how much ambient light you’re dealing with), makes it no surprise that they’re asking fully $2400 US for one of these.

They’ll start going on sale in South Korea May 2nd, but hopefully they’ll mount one of those on the front of a big cargo vessel and sail them on out worldwide so we all can get a crack at this.
