Apple Makes It Official, The White iPhone 4 Will Be Available Tomorrow April 28th

Just like that, the unicorn-like white iPhone 4 is going to be available for sale as of tomorrow April 28th, 2011. And thankfully, this news is official and coming by way of Apple.

In terms of making a purchase, the white iPhone 4 will be available with AT&T and Verizon as well as with Apple and select Apple Authorized Resellers.

“White models of iPhone 4 will be available in Austria, Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Macau, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, UK and the US, beginning Thursday, April 28 and in many more countries around the world soon.”

Bottom line, as of tomorrow April 28th those interested will be able to walk into just about anywhere that the iPhone 4 is currently sold and purchase the white model. Well, that is as long as they are either eligible for an upgrade or willing to shell out the full retail cost. Similar to the black iPhone 4, the white model will be available in 16GB and 32GB storage capacities and sell for $199 and $299 respectively.

With that, this is a seemingly unexciting end to a series of rumors involving a long delayed phone. And on top of that, we are still not quite sure what the official reason for the delay was. Then again, we have heard numerous stories and rumors of why and truly — it probably does not matter why. But perhaps the real kicker to this announcement comes in with the apology. Yup, Apple offered an apology to those who have waited patiently.

The white iPhone 4 has finally arrived and it’s beautiful,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “We appreciate everyone who has waited patiently while we’ve worked to get every detail right.”

And that brings up the big question in who is the target audience for the white iPhone 4 now that it is available. The geeks are most likely waiting for the iPhone 5 at this point and as for the non-geeks — they probably have already picked up their iPhone 4 and are not eligible for an upgrade. Of course, it is a handset that many have been lusting over for quite some time now and given that, Apple is likely to sell more than a few.
