SugarSync Updates Android App, Introduces AutoSync
SugarSync users sporting an Android device may want to fire up the Android Market and do a quick check for updates as there is going to be at least one waiting. The SugarSync app has been updated to version 3.2 and with that comes a few changes and improvements including a new feature called AutoSync.

But first, the SugarSync app is available as a free download from the Android Market and is compatible with Android 1.5 or later. Furthermore, it requires 1.1MB of installation space. Otherwise, while the SugarSync app is free to download you will need to create an account. And for those wondering, SugarSync has a 30 day free trial and then goes to $4.99 (for 30GB of storage space) on a monthly basis. In addition, for those users looking for less storage space, there is also a 5GB account available for free.
With that out of the way, the 3.2 update for SugarSync on Android brings a new feature called AutoSync. What this does is just what it sounds like, it automatically syncs your data. The AutoSync feature works with images as well as folders and better yet — works in the background even when the app is not running.
And for those worried about battery usage, worry not because SugarSync has taken that into consideration with the settings. For example, you can choose to only sync when on Wi-Fi or only when plugged in. Plus, you can even choose the time interval between syncs.
- 1. AutoSync Photos: Instantly backs up photos taken using the device’s camera to your computers
- 2. AutoSync Folders: Two-way automatic sync for data synced locally to your device. Changes you make to files sync automatically. Files synced to your device are always up to date, even when offline
In addition to the AutoSync for folders and photos, there was a new help section added to the app as well as a “simplified” menu layout and “better performance and stability.” All said and done, a worthwhile update for current users, especially for those who regularly snap pictures.

Good review – there are a few recent changes as of June 2011:
You get 5GB of space with the FREE version, but now there is no restriction to the number of computers you can sync/backup (up from 2).
It gives you the ability to upload and sync any folder on your computer.
It is the only service that offers such a broad device and OS support with apps for Android, BlackBerry, iPhone/iPad, Symbian, not to mention your computer!
(Thanks for the insight, but have removed the referral (assoc.) link – ed)
Hope it helps someone.
