PlayStation Network Down Update: Users’ Credit Cards Accessed? Not by Anonymous? [Sony’s PSN Maintenance Outage Still In the Books, Sony Has No ETA on When Regular PlayStation Online Gaming Will Resume]

Earlier today we showed you a very believable explanation for what’s going down at Sony’s PlayStation Network headquarters as we proceed with this PSN outage scenario. Without offering us anymore details about when the PSN and Qriocity services will be resumed, Sony went ahead today to issue a two paragraph, Twitter-like update, available after the break:

I know you are waiting for additional information on when PlayStation Network and Qriocity services will be online. Unfortunately, I don’t have an update or timeframe to share at this point in time.

As we previously noted, this is a time intensive process and we’re working to get them back online quickly. We’ll keep you updated with information as it becomes available. We once again thank you for your patience.

That announcement comes from Patrick Seybold, Senior Director, Corporate Communications and Social Media and it’s not very bold. In fact it looks like the situation is pretty serious, and Sony would like to keep everything under wraps for now. In other words, PSN is not available in Japan today and won’t be available in the USA tomorrow either, or at least that’s the general feeling that we get.

Furthermore, Anonymous, that hacking team that attacked Sony servers in the past said they didn’t do it. And why would they lie now considering they have admitted to their wrong/right doings (depending from whose perspective you’re looking at it) in the past.

Another rumor circling the web today is saying that PSN users’ credit cards could be at risk as Sony doesn’t really have a clue whether such details have been accessed by the external intrusion or not so this PlayStation Network outage looks more and more serious. On the other hand we didn’t see any reports saying from affected users yet, so their credit cards could still be safe. Stick around, via Twitter or by subscribing to our feed, for more PSN outage updates, as we’re going to keep a close eye on this one until Sony brings it back online.

My credit card has been charged by unknown companies and the public should be told what else is going to be done about this situation cause now that my credit card info has been taken what is playstation going to do to compensate it.
