The update that many Nook Color owners have been waiting for is now ready and available for all — Android 2.2. Or more specifically, the update comes as part of the version 1.2.0 software update. But regardless of what you call the update, the Nook Color has become a bit more tablet like as of today.
“Barnes & Noble is providing a major firmware update for NOOK Color that contains exciting new features, addresses key customer requests and provides ongoing performance improvements.”
This update arrives with goodies to include Android 2.2 Froyo along with Nook Apps, Nook Email and Nook Kids Read and Play titles. In addition, those who get the update will also find an enhanced web experience as well as and enhanced version of Nook Books.
As for getting the update, you can sit back and wait for an update notification to arrive or go the manual route and make sure you get it today. Those with the added patience and willing to sit back and wait will simply need to make sure their device has the Wi-Fi turned on.
Otherwise, those looking to update now will need to download the software update from the Nook support website (link at the bottom of this post) and then follow the directions which include downloading the update, connecting your Nook to your computer using USB, dragging the update file over, ejecting the Nook and then performing the actual update process.
