Lenovo ThinkPad X1 MacBook Air Rival Confirmed By Battery Details [Ultraslim Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Notebook Is a Real Product, to House a Real Fast-Charging 3X Life Built-in Battery]

Yesterday we brought an interesting upcoming notebook to your attention, the ThinkPad X1, Lenovo’s thinnest ThinkPad so far and a worthy MacBook Air rival. The new Windows 7 machine is said to pack quite a punch and while rumors suggested the device will hit some stores starting with May 20 we didn’t have an official press release to show for yet.

Today, while we’re still waiting for that official announcement, we seem to have gotten confirmation that the X1 is an actual, real, Lenovo product, supposed to hit various markets soon. What we have for you today are battery details for the ThinkPad X1, which are quite interesting considering how such an ultra-portable laptop would also have to offer a more than reliable battery life.

According to the leaked document above, the X1 will come with a brand new battery technology designed for ultra-thin products. We’re looking at built-in batteries, a concept we’ve seen before in current MacBooks, which will offer up to 3x the “typical notebook battery” life. But what’s typical for a Windows notebook and what’s typical for a ThinkPad? The document doesn’t reveal such details.

What it does say is that the X1 with RapidCharge technology will be ready to offer you an 80% charge after 30 minutes and I can already think about certain events that would require such fast-charging capabilities.

Besides the ThinkPad X1, which will obviously pack these new batteries, Lenovo is also going to launch two new ThinkPad Edge models, 220s and 440s, so Lenovo fans, the future is bright if you’re looking for a new Windows 7 laptop from your favorite laptop maker. All you have to do is wait a few more months for the X1 and the new Edge versions to come out.
