Samsung Droid Charge Special Offer Available at Walmart: $249.99 With New Contract [Let’s Talk Offers the Droid Charge Android Smartphone for $249.99 With New 2-Yr Contracts; That’s $50 Off The Regular Price]
The Samsung Droid Charge is the latest Android 4G LTE super phone announced by Verizon. The phone’s name is newer than the phone itself, as Samsung and Big Red unveiled this puppy at CES 2011 without providing an actual consumer-friendly name for it until it was uncovered recently.

The HTC Thunderbolt, the first 4G LTE smartphone in the USA was launched back in March and it quickly became one of the best-sold handsets in Verizon’s inventory. And the Thunderbolt was a very hot handset, which was expected by the masses with open arms so people seemed not to mind the extra $50 charged by Verizon. The Thunderbolt came with a $249.99 price, although better offers have been available from various retailers since the launch of the phone, which is $50 more than the usual U.S. price for new smartphones, no matter the carrier.
With that in mind, we were really surprised to see the Droid Charge get an even more expensive price tag when purchased with new two-year contracts: $299.99. So, what’s so special about this phone in order for Samsung and Verizon to ask an extra $100 for the phone?
While we wait to figure out the answer to that question, we will tell you that Walmart will sell you the same phone for $50 less, or $249.99, which is exactly what one would assume the Droid Charge should be priced in the first place. The price is available, as you might have guessed it, with new two-year contracts from Verizon. All you have to do is pre-order the smartphone and then wait for it to hit your door, which should happen by some time next Friday.
The phone is also available contract-free, from Walmart, but you’ll have to pay $689.99 for it. On comparison, the contract-free Thunderbolt will cost you $569.99, which explains the higher on-contract cost for the smartphone, but does not explain why the Droid Charge is so special to be priced higher than similar rivals.
Anyone thinks the Droid Charge will be more popular than the Thunderbolt?
