Motorola Droid X2 Press Shots Revealed [Press Shots Of Droid X Revision Leaked, Does Is The New Droid X Too Little Of A Revision To Make Fans Happy?]

The Motorola Droid X2 has yet to be announced by Motorola and Verizon, but, like every other cell phone these days, we already know everything about it. A few blurry spycam photos have leaked out previously, but now we have the press shots which were acquired by website PocketNow and have since been passed around the tech blogs.

As expected, the phone is similar to the first Droid X. Very similar, in fact, as the only difference in appearance is the addition of the “Droid X2” between the Verizon and Motorola logos. The rest of the phone is exactly the same. Of course, the phone won’t be the same on the inside. It’s expected to be getting a higher resolution screen, a new 1.2GHz processor (in fact, I can almost assure this. The Motorola Droid X is being sold in China with a 1.2Ghz processor), and a RAM bump, probably to 768MB has also been rumored.

Is this bad? Some reactions to it seem to be negative, although, an interesting point was made to me. I reviewed the Droid 2 for this site last year, and I criticized it then because aside from the recoloring of the case and the improved internal hardware, it was the same phone as the first Motorola Droid. Someone pointed out to me that Apple releases a new iPhone every year, and the radical design change with the iPhone 4 aside, it’s usually the exact same design with internal hardware improvements. So, why do we hold non-Apple manufacturers to higher standards.

No 4G on the Droid X2, either. I imagine Verizon is trying to keep this one cheap, either for them or the consumer. Besides, the Droid X/X2 is quite a thin phone. Regular TFTS readers will know we’ve been going on about how much heft and thickness the current generation of 3G/4G chipsets adds to a phone. No 4G, thin phone.
