Droid Incredible 2 Promotional App Arrives In Android Market [Verizon's Internal App Arrives On Android Market For HTC Droid Incredible 2, Does This Mean The DInc 2 Is Coming Out Soon?]
Although they’re kind of hard to find, in the Android Market are “promotional apps” that Verizon creates for Android devices. They’re for the display Android phones in Verizon stores, and they show off the features of the phone, list the specs, and allegedly even won’t let you quit once its running. There are a few in the Android Market for some of the current Android phones, but one for the Droid Incredible 2 has quietly appeared.

According to the dedicated Android blogs, something similar happened with the HTC Thunderbolt and Samsung Droid Charge – their respective promotional apps were added to the Market just before the phones were announced. One wondered why Verizon would distribute them via the Android Market. It must be easier for them to do that than sending the .apk to every store and having to worry about the local employees being unable to sideload the thing.
Either way, one has appeared for the HTC Droid Incredible 2. This really has folks speculating that the (so-called) “DInc 2” is about to come out soon. Considering that Verizon just announced and put on sale the Droid Charge, I doubt they’d announce another phone so quickly. They announced the Droid Charge about a month after the HTC Thunderbolt, so I’d conjecture maybe mid-May for the Droid Incredible 2 to be announced.
So, search for “vzw incredbl2 device showcase” in the Android Market if you want to find the app. It doesn’t look to be anything special and I have heard horror stories about having to force restart in order to quit – but could be a neat thing for an Android fan to mess with.
