Wi-Fi HTC Flyer Best Buy Pre-order to Kick Off on April 25
A new tablet is getting ready to step up to the plate after the BlackBerry PlayBook, and this time around we’re looking at the HTC Flyer, a 7-inch Android smartphone announced at MWC 2011 – see our hands-on here. And Best Buy, like always with new devices, is ready to offer the handset up for pre-order.

Unfortunately, at least for now, Best Buy has only announced the Wi-Fi version of the Flyer, so those of you interested in the 3G model, or Sprint’s WiMAX-enabled HTC EVO View 4G announced at CTIA 2011 will have to wait a while longer.
The Wi-Fi Flyer is going to cost $499 and you’ll be able to pre-order it a day after Easter, or on April 25. As you can easily notice, the price for the Wi-Fi Flyer matches the 16GB iPad 2 Wi-Fi’s price, although the two devices are certainly different when it comes to specs and features. But we don’t have any actual release dates for the Flyer, so get ready for some waiting after you complete your pre-order.
The PlayBook, the other 7-inch tablet that hit stores this week, sold rather well, better than the Xoom apparently, although the first PlayBook reviews aren’t that inspiring. Will this HTC 7-inch tablet do any better? We’re looking at a machine that’s not running Honeycomb either, at least not out of the box, although, at the end of the day, it’s still running Android which ensures the immediate availability of plenty of tablet-ready content. The HTC Flyer comes with a powerful 1.5GHz processor, not a dual-core CPU though and with HTC’s Sense, Watch and Scribe technologies on board.
We’ll be looking for your take on the Flyer, so, by all means, do hit us up in the comments section below. Will you pre-order the new tablet? Is the Wi-Fi version enough for you?
