Scosche Unveils The switchBACK surge g4, Brings A Backup Battery & Kickstand To The iPhone 4
Scosche is one of those companies that has some rather useful products. Me personally, I have about a half dozen of their USB chargers around the house and in the car. But USB wall and car chargers are far from their only product and well, some of them are slightly more interesting. Enter their latest, the Scosche switchBACK surge g4.

Fancy sounding (also difficult to type) name aside, the switchBACK surge g4 is a case for the iPhone 4. And yes, it is said to work equally well with both the Verizon and AT&T iPhone. That said, this case offers three features in one — it is a case, kickstand and backup battery pack.
But first, the switchback portion of the name, that comes in rather simply — the case can switch backs. And nicely, it ships with the two available backs so you can change from Metallic Silver and Gloss Black at will. But perhaps more important as compared to a switching back cover, the case also has the kickstand. Not much you can say about that so lets move onto the battery backup part.

The battery is an 1800 mAh lithium-ion and said to be able to offer “an additional 275 hours of standby, up to 12 hours of talk time, up to 36 hours of audio, up to 9 hours of Wi-Fi, or up to 9 hours of video.” Or another way or saying that, the switchBACK is “capable of charging a dead iPhone 4 up to 80% full.” As for charging the case, that is done by way of micro-USB, of which a cable is included in the box.
Either way though, the case provides a decent amount of extra power which can be tracked using an app or LED light. Scosche is providing the reVIVE app which offers what seems to be rather detailed information on the battery. Also, just in case the app method of checking is not for you, there is also the more traditional LED lights to keep track. In the case of the switchBACK surge g4, there are four blue LED lights.
With that, the switchBACK surge g4 will be available as of today and comes priced at $79.99.
