Samsung Infuse 4G Tipped As Coming To Walmart In May

Walmart Advertising Circular Shows AT&T Branded Samsung Infuse 4G As Arriving In May With $178.88 Price Tag

The Samsung Infuse 4G smartphone was officially announced back in January during CES and since then, it has remained relatively quiet. Well, quiet with the exception of the FCC filing which came in March. Of course, it was that FCC filing that spurred things up again and also made us think that a release was coming sooner rather than later.

Well, flash forward till today and that sooner may be next month, as in May. The details are coming by way of a Walmart advertising circular, which basically means that until we hear something official from AT&T — we treat this with a bit of caution. Or at the very least, some understanding that things could still change.

That said, according to Walmart, the Samsung Infuse 4G smartphone is coming in May 2011 and will be sporting a price tag of $178.88. Not all that bad of a price, and honestly, its less expensive than I would have guessed.

Anyway, while we wait a bit and see if this release date and price holds true, lets offer a brief recap on those specs. Remember, the Infuse 4G is a beast of a phone. The specs include a 4.5 inch Super AMOLED Plus display, 1.2GHz Hummingbird processor, 16GB of internal storage, microSD card slot and an 8 megapixel camera on the back. In addition, the Infuse 4G will have support for AT&T’s HSPA+ network and come running Android 2.2 Froyo along with Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface.

Now lets just hope this release timeframe holds true, and assuming the Walmart circular has accurate information, then one could expect an official announcement from AT&T fairly soon. With that, we are left wondering what the price will be when it comes available with AT&T, after all, we cannot see them selling it for $178.88. Heck, even $199.99 sounds low for AT&T. But maybe it will come to that after mail-in-rebates.
