Miyamoto: Expect More Remakes On 3DS

Miyamoto Says Nintendo Is Ready To Start Developing Software Again, Would Like To See Another Legend Of Zelda Title Remade On 3DS

Everyone is already aware that there’s been a severe lack of software announcements coming from Nintendo surrounding the release of the Nintendo 3DS. Shigeru Miyamoto, however, recently confirmed to Edge Magazine that Nintendo is ready to shift their focus from hardware back to software, discussing future plans for their newest handheld as well as sharing a few of his own desires.

The 3D remake of The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time has been getting a lot of press attention lately, so it shouldn’t surprise anyone that Miyamoto said more remakes would be making their way to the 3DS in the future. He also discussed the possibility of bringing classic Nintendo titles to the 3DS eShop as well, saying, “Personally speaking, because it’s [for] 3DS, it’ll be 3DS-specific, unique and immediately suitable for 3DS. With downloadable games via eShop we will start to create meaningful and high-value games for 3DS specifically.”

And what game would he most like to see remade on the 3DS? “I think A Link To The Past,” he said. “Do you remember Xevious? It’s two-layered and I really wanted to create that at the time. So to see Link To The Past in two layers would be quite attractive for me.”

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is a great game in any form, so I’m sure Zelda fans wouldn’t mind seeing it remade for the 3DS. Hell, why we’re at it, why don’t we just remake the whole Zelda series on the 3DS? Think about it, Nintendo.
