MacBook Air Models To Get Thunderbolt In May
They say that April showers bring May flowers, but the forecast for May is looking decidedly stormier thanks to some early word that says the MacBook Air lineup will be getting Thunderbolt ports next month.

The original MacBook Air line came out back last October, and people were pretty enthused to see them, in all honesty. With good reason, really–the initial line of Apple laptops did well in terms of sales–but in recent months, the supply available has been falling off. This is usually a good sign that someone’s getting ready for a new product line, and the current word says that this time it’s going to feature Thunderbolt.
The early word says that the new Macbooks are set to feature Sandy Bridge processors and as discovered earlier, Samsung solid state drives. Plus, we’ll also see integrated Intel graphics, plus, of course, the new Thunderbolt ports that will put a whole lot of punch into your file transfer capabilities. Since it’s twice as fast as USB 3.0, some have suggested that the broader adaptation of Thunderbolt might well end up killing off USB 3.0 before it really gets started. Though I maintain, as I did previously, there are simply too many USB devices out there for the consumer base to willingly accept the complete loss of USB ports in favor of Thunderbolt.
Anyway, the current word says that mass production of the new model MacBook AirĀ will start entering mass production later in May, which in turn lends some support to suggestions of new MacBook Air models in June. This sounds like a pretty good time to launch a new laptop, as the kids will be going back to school before too much longer after June (summer vacation only lasts until August in most places anyway), and most will start considering their holiday shopping not too much longer after that anyway.
