Verizon "1st Quarter 2011 Earnings Report" Presentation Reveals How Many iPhone 4's Have Been Activated

Verizon Activated 2.2 Million iPhone 4's, 260,000 HTC Thunderbolts & More Than 500,000 4G Devices

We recently posted about the Q1 2011 quarterly results from Verizon and after reading the press release that they offered up, we had noticed they choose to not reveal anything in terms of iPhone 4 sales figures. In fact, Verizon only reiterated the previous statement about it breaking a first day sales record. Well, as it turns out, Verizon also has a PDF available on their Investor Relations page titled “1st Quarter 2011 Earnings Results” and that came with a bit more details in terms of numbers.

And nicely, that report offered a look at the iPhone 4 as well as the recently released HTC Thunderbolt and 4G devices in general. In short, the iPhone 4 seems to be doing well and the previous Verizon statement about 4G devices being in “strong demand” seems about as accurate as could be.

Anyway, this presentation did cover much of what the press release covered, however these extra details came on page 8 and included goodies such as how Verizon activated 2.2 million iPhone 4′s. And there you have it, the number that many have speculated over and even more had been curious to learn — 2.2 million.

Furthermore, the HTC Thunderbolt has managed to sell “over” 260,000 units and so far Verizon has activated “more than” 500,000 4G devices. Of course, those include the Thunderbolt smartphone as well as a handful of 4G modems that have recently come available.

Of course, the real story here is probably the 4G devices, remember the HTC Thunderbolt only went on sale on March 17th so the 260,000 is really only looking at two weeks of sales. And in terms of those mobile hotspot devices, of which there are two, those launched after the Thunderbolt and only one of the two came before the end of March. Of course, Verizon also has four other USB stick style 4G modems available so those surely helped the overall 4G sales figures. But still, it looks like people want the speed.
