AT&T Confirms Windows Phone 7 "NoDo" Update Now Rolling Out

Samsung Focus & LG Quantum Users Rejoice As WP7 "NoDo" Copy/Paste Update Begins Rolling Out

Just a short while back we learned that AT&T had officially missed the early-April timeframe for rolling out the Windows Phone 7 update for the Samsung Focus, HTC Surround and the LG Quantum smartphones, and well, at the time it looked like the wait was going to be rather long.

Anyway, if you had looked at the data coming from Microsoft, the update was still in the testing phase and then had to go to the scheduling phase. And according to Microsoft, the scheduling phase can take up to 10 days. Needless to say, we were expecting this to all be pushed back until sometime in May.

And then, just a few days after all this happened, AT&T stepped forward and offered up a date of April 19th. Granted, that can with a little bit of surprise and some skepticism on our part. But the good news has been confirmed — AT&T has indeed begun pushing out the “NoDo” update for (some of) their Windows Phone 7 smartphones.

Of course, with the good news comes some bad. Well, maybe not so much as bad but disappointing — the HTC Surround is not yet getting the update. And to further add to that, as of now neither Microsoft or HTC have offered up a timeline as to when the update will arrive stating only that the handset was still undergoing testing.

With that, many will recognize the “NoDo” update as the one that brings copy and paste, but AT&T users will also get another bonus in the form of support for the “WISPr” protocol. And for those scratching your head wondering — that allows your phone to automatically switch over to publicly available AT&T Hotspots. In addition, AT&T users will also get support for AT&T Address Book, which offers wireless sync between your online address book and your phone.
