18.64 Million iPhones, 4.69 Million iPads & 3.76 Million Macs Bring Apple Record March Quarter
As expected Apple has posted its quarterly earnings report today and, as expected, we’re looking again at a record non-holiday quarter for the Cupertino-based company. Apple added an extra $5.99 billion in profit in the past quarter after an impressive $24.67 billion in revenues. That’s 83% revenue growth and 95% profit growth year over year.

Apple’s main weapons were, as expected, the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and, naturally, the Macs. The iPhones appear to have been the motor of this impressive quarter. Let’s not forget that Apple launched the CDMA iPhone 4 in February, which should be, at least in part, responsible for that 113% unit growth year over year. But let’s not forget that AT&T held its ground pretty well as the carrier also reported impressive iPhone sales in the past quarter.
Apple sold a total of 18.65 million iPhones in Q2 2011, 9.02 million iPods, 4.69 million iPads and 3.76 million Macs.
Some people estimated that Apple would sell up to 7 million iPads its second quarter of 2011, but the company only closed in to 4.69 million. Apple’s competitors have gotten a lot tougher this year, but that can’t be the reason for Apple’s “slower” iPad performance. Let’s not forget that Apple launched the iPad 2 at the beginning of March, which is a good enough reason for connoisseurs to skip purchasing an iPad 1 and actually wait for the next-gen version.
Speaking about the iPad 2, we don’t have any sales number to show you at this point, which is certainly interesting. Apple has not bragged with iPad 2 sales just yet as iPad 2 shipments are still delayed for most markets but Apple is not going to stop growing anytime soon:
“With quarterly revenue growth of 83 percent and profit growth of 95 percent, we’re firing on all cylinders,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “We will continue to innovate on all fronts throughout the remainder of the year.”
