Motorola Xoom on US Cellular Confirmed Coming?

Images have surfaced of what are allegedly US Cellular’s intranet, and they show a notice to all employees that says that the company will be offering the Motorola Xoom tablet. If you believe the image is real, it’s pretty much a confirmation that the popular “super regional” carrier will be getting the 10-inch Honeycomb tablet.

According to the notice, US Cellular themselves may have even let the cat out of the bag earlier themselves. The notice to employees makes mention of a TV segment on local news NBC 5 that mentions the Xoom made an appearance amongst US Cellular’s other Android devices. Shame on the tech blog community for not noticing this.

The memo says that the Xoom is expected to launch in the second quarter of the year (April to June), with exact release dates and pricing to be announced later. It isn’t exactly clear if US Cellular will be offering a native 3G version (like Verizon offers, and Sprint and AT&T are rumored to be getting) or if US Cellular will be selling a WiFi-only version of the Xoom, like Cellular South and TELUS in Canada are.

Here’s another interesting note – expecting the BlackBerry PlayBook on US Cellular? The leaked memo says they are looking into the contract dealings with brining the PlayBook to the US Cellular network, but in the interim, advises customers asking about the PlayBook on US Cellular’s network to instead ask RIM those questions. Passing the buck, for the win!

I reviewed the Motorola Xoom for this website and found it to be a great tablet that needed a few software patches. Cost, of course, is an issue, but I found it to be the best tablet yet.
