Evernote For Android Updated To Version 3
Evernote is an app that I have sung my praise for in the past, and well, they have returned with a new update in terms of the Android app. The latest brings the app up to version 3.0 and is being described by the Evernote team as the “first time” that they have “crammed this many great features into a single release of any Evernote product.”

And truth be told, the update does appear feature packed. Or I guess I should say new feature packed. That said, Evernote 3.0 for Android is available for devices running Android 1.5 or later and requires 3.6MB of space for installation.
With that, lets get into the new features;
- Browse and edit shared notebooks
- Sharing toFacebook and other apps
- Search and create notes within notebooks
- Create and edit notebooks, plus better support for Notebook Stacks
- Maps and location
- PIN Lock (Premium feature)
- New widget
- Better Interface
Breaking these features down a bit further and we can start with the ability to browse and edit shared notebooks. This comes with a few parts, but the main being that you can now link you account with shared notebooks making them easier to view at a later time. And for Premium subscribers, you can also take those shared notebooks offline.
In terms of the sharing to Facebook and other apps. This is rather simple in that you share the note. The Facebook integration is nice and as for those ‘other’ apps, those include the ability to share to Twitter and also by email.
The Search within Notebooks is another one that may sound simple, but has a nice perk, especially when trying to narrow down results on a smaller smartphone display. This means you can now search within a notebook and get results only from that notebook.
Otherwise, the mobile version now allows you to create new notebooks on the device (a feature that was previously limited to the desktop), can capture your location (assuming you have your GPS turned on), and a widget that has gotten a “complete visual makeover.” In addition, the “better interface” is described as having “more info on the home screen” and “tag hierarchies.”
And in addition, there is the usual mention of performance improvements and bug fixes. With that, those already using Evernote on Android can update from the Android Market, and for everyone else — just launch the Market and search for Evernote if you want to give it a try.
