Wacom Set To Offer The Bamboo Stylus For Tablet Users

Popular Drawing Tablet Maker Wacom Plans To Offer Stylus For Capacitive Touchscreen Devices

A lot of artists out there are familiar with the Wacom drawing tablet. At least if the sheer number of mentions I see bandied about in the various webcomics I read is any indication, they are. But now, Wacom’s planning to bring out something for tablet users in general: the Bamboo Stylus, a way to make working with your various touchscreen devices a whole lot easier than usual.

If you’ve expressed frustration over having your meaty fingers go smacking into a touchscreen and selecting something you didn’t want, or make a hash out of something you were trying to type on a touchscreen keyboard, then this is news you’ll want to hear. Essentially, the Wacom Bamboo Stylus is built with weighting about like a nice fountain pen, and has a small tip that works with any capacitive touchscreen. So from your iOS gear to Android and beyond, whether tablet or smartphone, if it’s got a touchscreen, the Bamboo Stylus will work with it.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about styluses coming with new tablets, of course–the HTC Flyer is looking to pack one at last report, and other Android tablets will likely follow suit. But for those looking for a stylus to work with their old tablets, the Wacom Bamboo Stylus might just be what’s called for.

Personally, I’m with them on this, and would have loved something like this when I went on that Fruit Ninja bender over the weekend, and for the artists out there, I predict they’ll do a brisk business in these as they can’t quite afford to upgrade their tablets but still want access to that sweet stylus technology. That and Wacom, as I said, has some solid brand recognition.

And even better, you’ll be able to get one of these starting this May, at last report, and you’ll only have to shell out about $41 US (25 pounds sterling) to get your hands on one.
