Asus Eee Pad Transformer Launches With "Unprecedented Demand"

Asus Admits To Eee Pad Transformer Inventory Issues, Promises To Increase Availability "As Quickly As Possible"

If you are in the UK and have been searching around for an Eee Pad Transformer, you may want to call off your search. It seems that while the device initially launched for those in the UK on April 6th, the in-stock availability was short lived due to what Asus is referring to as an “unprecedented demand.”

This latest news comes by way of a statement that was recently released by Asus and details the issues as well as makes some promises as to when more inventory should come available. Of course, while many of the readers (those hoping to get a Transformer) will see this as a disappointment, we cannot help but imagine Asus employees sitting around and smiling. Needless to say, it does not appear as if the delay will be all that long.

With that, according to Asus;

“ASUS always strives to set benchmarks for product innovation, design and quality. We have implemented a number of additional testing procedures for the Eee Pad Transformer to ensure an unrivalled user-experience. This has resulted in delays to a number of shipments to the UK. We are now due to receive a significant quantity of both Eee Pad Transformers and keyboard docks at the end of April/early May (exact date will depend on customs clearance and freight forwarding to our retailers). We are working hard to increase both the number of demonstration models on display and also general stock availability within retailers throughout the UK.”

As to where those interested may be able to find an Eee Pad Transformer, it was noted that they will be distributed with Comet, PC World, Currys and Carphone Warehouse stores. And as to when, as mentioned in the above quote, Asus is aiming for “late April/early May.” Furthermore, for those feeling like they can wait as long as they are able to shell out their money now, Amazon.co.uk and Ebuyer.com are currently accepting pre-orders.
