HP Veer webOS 2.2 Smartphone Launching May 2, AT&T to Carry It?
HP’s new webOS line of smart mobile devices comprised of the Veer, the Pre 3 and the TouchPad, were introduced a few days before MWC 2011, where we later had a chance to watch all of them in action. Now, two months later, it’s time for these gadgets to come to life in stores and it looks like the Veer will be the first one to kick of HP’s webOS bonanza.

According to the word on the street, HP is going to launch this baby on May 2. An “HP Veer Launch Party Event” appears to have been uncovered and May 2 is the date HP should unveil U.S. carrier plans for the phone, as well as pricing details and actual in-store availability.
The Veer is one of the smallest smartphones available out there, and I’ll have to say, it’s my favorite of the three new HP webOS devices mentioned above. I’m normally the iOS guy that would rely on the iPhone and the iPad to get the job done while on the go. But depending on the mission’s objectives I might require a secondary phone to help pick up the slack, not necessarily a smarpthone, and that’s where the Veer (which is a full-blown smartphone by the way) would do a great job.
Getting back to launch dates, we’re also told that the AT&T will have some sort of a webOS 3.0 event scheduled for May 12, so would AT&T go through all that trouble if it didn’t want to launch more webOS devices this year, besides the TouchPad, that is? Therefore May 12 could be the day the Veer hits AT&T stores, although we’ll keep close tabs on this particular smartphone for you. As for the Pre 3 and TouchPad, well, we’re yet to have official release dates and pricing for them, so keep close, as these webOS devices should hit stores in the following months too.
