T-Mobile Pre-Paid Rocket 4G USB Modem Now Available With $59.99 Price Point
It looks like T-Mobile has quietly slipped the Rocket 4G USB modem into the available category. This comes in addition to the 4G Mobile Hotspot modem that we saw a few days back. Of course, there are some obvious differences between the two devices.

First, the 4G Mobile Hotspot is well, a mobile hotspot. But in addition it is a post-paid device. The Rocket 4G on the other hand is a USB stick-style modem and it arrives for those looking for pre-paid data.
As far as the Rocket 4G USB modem goes, it is priced at $59.99 and that is contract free. Otherwise, the Rocket 4G is compatible with both Windows and Mac and can service 4G speeds of up to 21Mbps. Well, it can serve them assuming you are in a 4G zone. In addition those who make the purchase will also find a microSD card slot that has support for cards of up to 32GB in size. In terms of the overall size and weight, the modem measures in at 1.1 x 3.4 x 0.5 inches and weighs just 1.1 ounces.
And in addition to the availability of the Rocket 4G, T-Mobile has also announced two new pre-paid data plans, though take note — these new plans will not be available until April 17th. That aside though, the new plans include a $30 monthly pass with 1GB of data and a $50 monthly pass with 3GB of data.
Bottom line, if you are looking for mobile connectivity and are ok with using that on just one USB device (as opposed to a mobile hotspot) then this seems to be a fairly nice option to consider. After all, $60 is fairly inexpensive and there are no contracts keeping you tied down. In other words, you can activate (buy data for) the modem just when you think you will be in need as opposed to paying a regular monthly bill.
