Kinect-Controlled Netflix Now Available On Xbox Live

Microsoft Announces Addition Of Kinect Controls To Netflix Channel On Xbox Live, But Its Integration Feels Somewhat Limited

If browsing your instant queue in Netflix with a stupid old controller has become unbearably boring, then we’ve got some good news for you, as Microsoft officially rolls out Kinect controls for Netflix today. It works in pretty much the way you’d imagine it would – you browse through the movies available to you by waving your hands in front of your TV and when you find one you like (let’s say Bio-Dome) you simply say “Xbox play,” to start the movie.

“With Xbox LIVE, take your Xbox 360 online and browse the full Netflix library to find the movie or TV show that you want, or launch Netflix from the Kinect Hub and select from one of the recommended titles using your voice and hand gestures as the remote control,” said the press release issued by Microsoft. “Even play, pause, fast forward and rewind what you’re watching with the wave of your hand or the sound of your voice.”

Aside from those features mentioned by Microsoft, there isn’t much more to the integration of Kinect controls within Netflix, which leaves the addtion feeling a little shallow and tacked-on. Have you given the Kinect features on Netflix a try yet? Is there anything you think could be added, or does it seem fine the way it is?
