Apple Releases Latest iOS Update, Fixes Facetime & iPad 3G Connectivity Issues

Apple Releases iOS 4.3.2, Along With iOS 4.2.7 For Verizon iPhones

We had heard that Apple was getting ready to release a new iOS update soon, and well, it looks like today is the day. And coming as what is most likely going to become the norm, there is a general update and a special update for those sporting a Verizon (CDMA) iPhone.

That said, the updates are currently available and can be found in the usual manner — by connecting your iPhone to iTunes and clicking the “check for update” button. As for the latest versions, the general update is iOS 4.3.2 and the Verizon specific update is iOS 4.2.7.

In terms of the iOS 4.3.2 update, the change log for that reads as follows;

This update contains improvements and other bug fixes including:

  • Fixes an issue that occasionally caused blank or frozen video during a FaceTime call
  • Fixes an issue that prevented some international users from connecting to 3G networks on iPad Wi-Fi + 3G
  • Contains the latest security updates

Again, nothing all that surprising, in fact it was pretty much what was expected when this story first came up last week. That said, those with a GSM iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad, iPad 2 or 3rd or 4th generation iPod touch will be able to grab iOS 4.3.2.

Next up is the slightly more mysterious iOS 4.2.7 update for the Verizon iPhone. Well, maybe mysterious is a strong word, but one thing is for sure — the Verizon update change log is rather short. That said, it reads as follows;

This update contains improvements and other bug fixes including:

  • Contains the latest security updates

And the bit of fair warning for those who have their iPhone (or iPad) jailbroken — you may want to double check and make sure you are safe to update. Most likely, you are best off waiting till you get the official word from the Dev-Team. With that, I am off to sit and stare at the slow download time that I am seeing right now. It started at 40 minutes and is down to 31 minutes. My fault though, I should have known better to try and grab an update the second it comes available.
