HTC Watch Video Streaming Service Confirmed For The HTC Sensation

HTC Further Details Watch, A Video Streaming Service That Will Arrive With The T-Mobile Branded HTC Sensation Smartphone

In addition to word of the HTC Sensation coming to T-Mobile here in the US, it looks like that handset will arrive with one of HTC’s newly announced services — HTC Watch.

And just for those wondering, or thinking they have heard the HTC Watch name before. If you remember back to the original announcement of the Flyer tablet, it was noted that the HTC Flyer would be the first tablet to come with HTC Watch. Take that and flash forward till today and we now have the first smartphone that will feature HTC Watch — the HTC Sensation with T-Mobile.

In terms of what the HTC Watch service is and what it offers, the official explanation from HTC is that is “an application and service that puts an entire library of the latest, premium movies and TV shows right at your fingertips, letting people discover the latest video content in an easy and visually engaging way.”

But perhaps a little more important than that is how it does it. The HTC Watch service is noted as using a “progressive download service” that will allow you to begin watching a movie without having to wait for a download to finish. Simply put, you can begin watching while the movie continues to download in the background.

Furthermore, the HTC Watch service offers the option to buy and/or rent movies and watch them using either 3G and/or Wi-Fi connectivity. And sadly, but also expected, there are some limitations on what you can do with the movies once you own them. According to HTC, the license will allow you to “watch them on up to five different HTC devices.”

If nothing else, assuming you have purchased a few movies, that may make you at least consider sticking with HTC in terms of future devices or else you stand to lose access to the movies you purchased.

Bottom line, look for HTC Watch to come available with the HTC Sensation on T-Mobile sometime this summer.
