New iPhone 5 Rumors Say Production Will Start in September; Release Date Later This Year?
Last week we talked about whether the iPhone 5 will be launched in June or not really, and today we got further rumors that tell us the next-gen iPhone will not be launched this summer. In fact the new Apple phone might only make it to stores at some point in fall, or even later, in early 2012.

The new report comes from Avian Securities, and while we don’t have a confirmation from Apple yet, it’s certainly interesting to hear that Steve Jobs and Co. would be willing, for whatever reason, to delay the launch of their next-gen iconic device.
The iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 were all launched in early summer, and they were all hit products. Apple sold plenty of handsets each year and the iPhone 5 should also be a best-selling device. So why would Apple start iPhone 5 production only in September?
The news appears to have been leaked by iPhone key component suppliers, which should pretty much have an idea on when the iPhone 5 will enter mass production.
There are plenty of reasons for Apple to delay iPhone 5 production, one of the most important being the fact that Apple launched the Verizon iPhone 4 only in early 2011. Let’s also consider the possibility that Cupertino could include LTE support in the iPhone 5, but in order to pull off such a stunt the company would need to wait for Verizon to make its LTE network available in more U.S. markets.
Also important is the fact that an early/late fall launch could bring in even more sales considering that an iPhone 5 launched before the holidays would be one of the most sought after handsets out there. Last but not least, considering, the recent events in Asia that could delay the production of various components, Apple could postpone the launch of the smartphone in order to make sure it has enough iPhone parts to actually manufacture enough iPhone 5 units.
It’s also important to note same report is saying that Apple is also considering launching a cheaper, lower-end-ish iPhone version, something we heard in previous rumors, but not yet a confirmed product. In any case, we’ll be waiting for more details on Apple’s iPhone 5 release date in the near future, so stick around!
