Droid-branded Bluetooth Headset Spotted
Behold the first “non-Android Droid” from Motorola. It’s actually the first non-Phone Droid, too. The Motorola Droid CommandOne Bluetooth headset was quietly announced by the company at last year’s Fall CTIA show. Now, months later, pictures of the headset in full retail packaging have surfaced. Does this mean that the Bluetooth headset is coming soon?

Props to tech blog Engadget, who got these pictures. So what makes the CommandOne headset special? According to what Motorola released about the headset last year, it seems to have extremely easy setup with Android phones. Just get their MotoSpeak application from the Android Market, and if you have an Android 2.2 or later phone, you’ll be able to instantly sync up the Droid CommandOne headset to your phone with no need to mess with Bluetooth pairing settings or whatnot. It wasn’t terribly complicated in the first place, but less hassle is always better.
Motorola promised back in the day that the CommandOne headset would have 5 hours of talk time, with 7 hours of standby time, and would feature their “CrystalTalk” dual microphone technology for crystal clear voice quality.
No word on pricing, but this thing sounds kind of expensive. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was in excess of $80 at Verizon stores. It’s worth noting here that when Motorola first unveiled the CommandOne, it was just the CommandOne. Now it’s being sold in Verizon stores as the “Droid CommandOne”. I wouldn’t be surprised to see it sold elsewhere outside the United States without the Droid name.
