Runic Reveals A Handful Of Torchlight 2 Monsters

Grab A Sneak Peek At Six New Monsters That Will Be Appearing In Runic's Upcoming Action RPG Torchlight 2

We may have to wait longer than originally expected before we can play Torchlight 2, but the folks over at Runic were nice enough to reveal six of the new monsters we’ll be killing hordes of when the game releases in July. Most of the monsters are Runic’s take on classic RPG adversaries, but a couple of them bring something new to the realm of action RPG cannon fodder.

Take, for instance, the attractive beast you see pictured above: the spectral dragon. Considering that spectral dragons are actually the ember-corrupted spirits of dragons held captive and abused by dwarves, the term “cannon fodder,” doesn’t really apply, because we can all plainly see that this one lands on the more bad ass side of the evildoer spectrum.

Check out the gallery to get a look at the gargoyle, witch, dwarven automata, manticore, and the yakotaur, a new monster that Runic says is a hideous amalgamation of two of the most terrifying creatures ever: a yeti and a mountain yak.

Torchlight 2 doesn’t have a solid release date yet, with Runic only saying that it will release for PC and Mac sometime in July.
