T-Mobile G2x Coming April 15th With An On-Contract Price Of $199.99

T-Mobile G2x To Feature 4" Display, 1GHz Dual-Core NVIDIA CPU & A "Stock Version" Of Android 2.2

T-Mobile first announced the G2x smartphone during CTIA and let everyone know that the handset would arrive sometime in the spring. Of course, even before that announcement we were seeing rumors suggesting that the handset would be released on April 20th.

Well, as it turns out — that rumor was partially true. Anyway, the word is coming direct from T-Mobile today and we now know that the G2x with Google smartphone will be available online beginning on April 15th and then show up in stores on April 20th. Otherwise, in terms of pricing — $199.99 on a two-year agreement. That said, worth noting is that $199.99 price point comes AFTER a $50 mail in rebate. Bottom line, be prepared to shell out $249.99 on the day of purchase.

With the price and release date information out of the way, lets do a recap on some of the specs. The T-Mobile G2x will arrive with goodies to include a 4 inch (480 x 800) touchscreen display, a dual-core 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, 8GB of internal storage, microSD card slot, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1, 3.5mm headphone jack, HDMI and a rear facing 8 megapixel camera with dual-LED flash and auto-focus as well as a front facing 1.3 megapixel camera.

In addition, those who make the purchase can expect to see a “stock version” of Android 2.2 along with all of the Google goodies such as Google Voice, Voice Actions from Google, Google Goggles, Google Search, Gmail, Google Maps with Places and Navigation, YouTube, Google Talk, Google Earth and more. And taking advantage of the front facing camera will be the T-Mobile Video Chat application powered by Qik.

Lastly, and perhaps spoiling that “stock version” of Android just a little bit, there will also be a few games that come pre-installed. The games include a full version of Need for Speed Shift HD and a demo version of Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance (NOVA).
