T-Mobile Continues The 4G HSPA+ Network Roll-Out, Announces 10 New Markets

T-Mobile 4G HSPA+ Network Now Covering 167 Markets & More Than 200 Million People

T-Mobile has once again expanded on their 4G HSPA+ network coverage. The latest include ten new markets and brings the total covered up to 167 markets with more than 200 million people now having access.

The newly covered markets include;

  • Ames, Iowa
  • Anderson, Indiana
  • Battle Creek, Michigan
  • Benton Harbor, Michigan
  • Jackson, Michigan
  • Fort Collins-Loveland, Colorado
  • Lawrence, Kansas
  • Manhattan, Kansas
  • Springfield, Illinois
  • Wichita Falls, Texas

And while these areas will be seeing the new speeds (assuming they have a capable device), T-Mobile is also moving forward with the 4G upgrades. The upgrades will be stared during this year and means a “theoretical download speed of 42 Mbps.” Again, that is going to be device dependent. In terms of the areas that will potentially see 42Mbps download speeds in 2011, those markets include Las Vegas, New York and Orlando, Florida which will be followed “closely” by Chicago, Long Island, N.Y. and Northern New Jersey.

In addition, T-Mobile is touting their current (and future) 4G device lineup which includes;

  • 4G Smartphones: the fastest 4G smartphones running on America’s Largest 4G network – the Galaxy S 4G, the T-Mobile myTouch 4G, the T-Mobile G2 with Google, the upcoming T-Mobile Sidekick 4G by Samsung and the upcoming T-Mobile G2x with Google.
  • 4G Tablets: the first 4G tablet in the U.S., the Dell Streak 7, as well as the upcoming T-Mobile G-Slate with Google by LG.
  • 4G Laptop Sticks: the upcoming T-Mobile Rocket 3.0, T-Mobile’s first HSPA+ 42 Mbps-capable device, the Rocket 2.0, T-Mobile’s first HSPA+ 21-capable device, the upcoming T-Mobile Jet 2.0 and the upcoming prepaid T-Mobile Rocket 4G.
  • 4G Netbook & Mobile HotSpot: the Dell Inspiron Mini 10 4G netbook and the upcoming T-Mobile 4G Mobile Hotspot.

With that, and while the upgraded 4G coverage is going to take some time to make its way into all of the currently covered 4G markets, it is nice to see T-Mobile actively upgrading at the same time as the initial roll-out.
