Verizon iPhone 4 Declared Best Selling Mobile Device in the USA for February
A few days ago we told you that, according to some analysts, the HTC Thunderbolt was doing better than the CDMA iPhone 4 when it comes to sales. But now we hear that Apple’s smartphone was also the best sold mobile device of February in the USA, at least according to other analysts (comScore in this case), not that we didn’t expect such estimates in the first place.

Does this mean the Thunderbolt might be the best-sold smartphone in the U.S. for March? We’d have no way of actually telling you any of that right now, but it seems that plenty of U.S. customers in search of mobile devices this February decided to go for the Verizon iPhone 4 instead of any other handset.
According to comScore, Apple placed in fifth place when it comes to mobile market share, grabbing a 7.5% market share, or, in other words, up 0.9% compared to November 2010. The top is lead by Samsung with 24.8%, up 0.3%, followed by LG, Motorola and RIM, with 20.9%, 16.1% and 8.6%. Apple’s market share increase is the most impressive of the five, especially since Motorola and RIM dropped a few points, while LG maintained the same numbers as last quarter.
Looking at mobile OS market share we’ll find Apple in third position, with 25.2% following Google and RIM (33% and 28.9%, respectively) and besting Microsoft and Palm (7.7% and 2.8%, respectively.)
Apple’s performance is “blamed” on the iPhone 4, which is, as comScore puts it, “the most acquired handset in the month of February.” Naturally we expect these statements to be backed up by some serious numbers, although we have no actual iPhone 4 sales figures to show you at this time. We’ll certainly wait for Apple to share those numbers in its future earnings conference call and, naturally, we can’t wait for comScore to tell us how the CDMA iPhone 4 did after the launch of the HTC Thunderbolt.

Wouldn’t take 10 free iphones for my thunderbolt. I would pay full price for my TB even if Apple offered me free iPhone and free calls and that’s a fact because I said so. Paul from Tennessee
