HTC EVO 3D GSM Version Confirmed for European Launch; No Release Date Available Yet
The HTC EVO 3D is HTC’s newest Android flagship smartphone and the device will be an exclusive CDMA 4G WiMAX 3D smartphone (you gotta love how that sounds) for Sprint in the USA. But unlike the HTC EVO 4G, which was launched in the USA alone in 2010, the EVO 3D is coming to an European market near you in the near future.

We don’t have exact details – release dates, prices and carrier/retailers – but the phone has been confirmed for Europe by HTC’s France Twitter account. That means the 4.3-inch monster will get GSM capabilities although that doesn’t mean any European carrier is ready to support its 4G WiMAX capabilities yet. Nevertheless the GSM version of the EVO 3D should be a very interesting phone to consider not only by 3D enthusiasts that would love to take their 3D experience on the go but also by Android fans that want to handle one of the latest Android handsets out there.
In case you’re not completely familiar with the specs and features of the HTC EVO 3D then here’s an extensive list that should help you decide whether to purchase the handset or not when it arrives in your particular GSM market:
- 4.3-inch 3D glass-free touchscreen display with qHD resolution
- 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor
- 5-megapixel dual-cameras
- 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera for video chat
- 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot capability, supporting up to eight Wi-Fi enabled devices simultaneously (no 4G support for European markets)
- Android Market for access to more than 150,000 useful applications, widgets and games available for download to customize the experience
- Google mobile services such as Google Search™, Gmail™, Google Maps™ with Navigation, Google Calendar, Voice Actions, and YouTube
- Sprint’s unique implementation of Google Voice, allowing customers to keep their Sprint number and seamlessly move to Google Voice
- Corporate e-mail (Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync), personal (POP and IMAP) e-mail and instant messaging
- 4GB Internal memory/1GB RAM
- microSD slot (supports up to 32GB memory card)
- Wi-Fi – 802.11 b/g/n
- DLNA and HDMI support
- Stereo Bluetooth
- Integrated GPS
- 1730 mAh Lithium-ion battery
- Android 2.3 Gingerbread
Of course, since we’re talking about a GSM handset here we can expect it to be compatible with AT&T and/or T-Mobile GSM bands too, so those of you that won’t want to switch to Sprint in the following months to purchase the EVO 3D could always order the GSM version of it from an European market of their choosing. We’ll still be waiting for the official press release to come out to announce the phone, so stay around for more GSM EVO 3D details!
