New York Times Kindle Subscribers Will Get Free Access To NYTimes.com

A New York Times Kindle Subscription Will Get You Through The NYT Paywall & Grant You Access To The NYTimes.com Website

Its another day and we are learning a bit more about who else will be given access to get through the New York Times paywall without having to shell out any additional money. And while there has been several methods discussed recently for the average non-subscriber to get access, this post will not be covering any of those.

In other words, if you are simply looking to bypass the paywall, this is probably not going to be the details you were hoping to see. Instead, this post comes with some good news for those who subscribe to the New York Times on the Amazon Kindle.

“Amazon.com, Inc. today announced that customers who subscribe to The New York Times for Kindle will be receiving access to The New York Times Web site at no additional charge.”

And just like that, your Kindle subscription has become that much more valuable. That said, there is a bit of a catch at the moment — that free access has not yet been granted. It will be coming, but at the moment it is being described as how “the date for Kindle New York Times subscribers’ free online access is yet undetermined.” Bottom line, your access has been promised, but not yet granted.

But rest assured in knowing that you will find out (by email) when the access will arrive sometime in the “coming weeks.” And while we could complain about having to wait, we suppose we should be happy that the access is even coming at all. With that, the New York Times subscription for the Kindle remains priced at $19.99 per month and is currently only available for the hardware Kindle and not any of the Kindle apps. Furthermore, for those interested but not willing to fully commit, the New York Times Kindle subscription comes with a 14-day free trial.
