Nexus Tablet Rumored to Be in the Works
Google’s Nexus and Nexus S smartphones were meant to be reference designs that showcase what Android can do. Now, Google reportedly has a Nexus tablet in the works.

While Google phones have been existent since 2007, Google worked with several manufacturers to produce reference, state-of-the-art designs that are meant to showcase Android’s capabilities. These were the Nexus One developed with HTC and Nexus S developed with Samsung. With the potential market for tablets, Google is reportedly working with LG on an upcoming Nexus Tablet.
Being a reference design, Google can make sure that the Nexus Tablet gets all the goodies that Android can offer, such as the latest Honeycomb version upon release. The Nexus Tablet will also likely get faster Android updates, as Google won’t wait for manufacturers (like Sony Ericsson, Samsung or HTC) to make the usual proprietary modifications before rolling out updates.
Word has it that the rumored Nexus Tablet is likely to be launched this summer or fall, although we don’t have any confirmation from Google nor LG yet.
