Netflix Announces Paramount Agreement, Means More Streaming Movies Are Coming To Canada
Netflix has announced a new partnership that should be good news for those located in Canada — a new agreement with Paramount. And this will most likely come as especially good news, because after all, those in Canada do not have the option to get any DVD’s by mail like we do here in the US. In other words, the more content that comes available for streaming, the more one will be able to justify the monthly subscription fee.

That said, the Paramount deal is a five year agreement and means they will be adding “hundreds of new movie titles, including the exclusive subscription television rights to all first-run films, for Canadian Netflix members to watch instantly on their computers and TVs.”
“We are committed to constantly expanding our selection of top new movies and TV shows for our Canadian members,” said Ted Sarandos, Netflix chief content officer
The movies are said to total “over 350″ and will include titles such as “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” “Titanic,” “Defiance,” “Zoolander,” “Wayne’s World,” “The African Queen,” “Sabrina” and “Terms of Endearment” as well as some newer titles such as The Last Airbender and Marvel’s Iron Man 2.
Speaking on behalf of Paramount Pictures, Hal Richardson, President of Paramount Television & Digital Distribution, stated “We are especially delighted that this arrangement serves to broaden the growing relationship with our friends at Netflix.”
And for those wondering, the movies are said to be arriving in the coming months, though Iron Man 2 should already be available for streaming. All said and done, just another positive check mark in the is-Netflix-worth-the-monthly-subscription-price question. With that, the monthly price for Netflix streaming in Canada is $7.99, which includes an unlimited amount of streaming.
Of course, as one confused subscriber noted on the Netflix Blog, the original Iron Man is not yet available, so “what’s the point” of Iron Man 2.
