Motorola Atrix 4G Software Update Version 4.1.57 Now Available

It looks like Motorola has begun rolling out an update for the Atrix 4G smartphone, though if you were thinking that this was enabling HSUPA or correcting the recently talked about call quality issues, think again. This first update is version 4.1.57 and classified as a maintenance update.

That said, while many Atrix 4G users are going to remain on the lookout for another update, maintenance updates are generally a good thing. Well, unless they go terribly wrong like in the recent case of some Samsung handsets and Windows Phone 7. But that aside, lets believe that Motorola is offering something good for the Atrix 4G.

The update (like already mentioned) is version 4.1.57 and it comes in at 17MB in size. Given that, Motorola is suggesting that you download using a Wi-Fi connection. Either way though, in terms of the update, here is what you can expect to be changed, fixed and/or added.

• Bluetooth: Improved multimedia experience with Bluetooth devices as well as the ability to use phone with additional headsets
• Fingerprint reader: Improved fingerprint reader performance
• Battery: Improved battery performance for longer battery life
• Screen: Display will turn off automatically now while charging directly on wall charger
• Phone stability: Improved stability resulting in fewer occurrences of touch unresponsiveness and/or programs quitting unexpectedly
• Car dock: Improved performance of car dock and 3.5mm jack

And lastly, in terms of getting the update, you can either sit back and wait for the notification to alert you or go and check manually. If you take the manual check route, grab your Atrix 4G and navigate to Settings -> About phone -> System updates -> Download -> Install. Once at this point simply let your phone do its thing and after the installation is complete and the phone finishes a re-boot you should be at version 4.1.57 (which you can check by going to Menu -> Settings -> About phone -> System version).
