River City Ransom 2 Coming To Japanese WiiWare This Year

After 22 Years River City Ransom Is Finally Getting A Sequel, Releasing In Japan On WiiWare This Summer & PC In 2012

It’s been nearly 22 years since River City Ransom’s Alex and Ryan went on a quest across River City to save Ryan’s girlfriend. They made countless punks from gangs like the Squids and the Cowboys barf along the way, ate their fair share of Merv Fries, and in the end, they did away with the evil “Slick” and rescued Ryan’s girlfriend in time for her to get some shopping in.

It was announced last week that River City Ransom 2 was in development, and it was recently revealed that it will release in Japan this summer on WiiWare, with a PC port launching sometime in 2012. It makes you wonder what the story is going to be, considering that Cyndi managed to get to the mall on time and “Slick” received his just deserts, but do you really need a reason to spend more time on the streets of River City?

There’s no word yet on a release in other regions, so keep your fingers crossed for an announcement soon. In the meantime, the original is always available on Wii, or you can boot up your DS and play through the excellent River City Ransom EX – just make sure you grab an extra smile from Merv’s for me.
