O2 Delays Sony Ericsson Xperia Play Release [Xperia Play 'Playstation Phone' Release Gets Delayed With O2, They Need More Time To Flush Out The Bugs]
It was back in February when O2 UK announced the white Xperia Play that they would be launching as an exclusive offering. And well, they have returned today with word of a delay. In other words, the handset is not going to launch on April 1st as was expected, simply put — there is more waiting to come.

And unfortunately, O2 makes no mention of a new timeline in the post detailing the delay on their official O2 blog. In addition, the teaser page on the O2 website simply offers to “keep me updated” and makes no mention of a timeline for release either.
That said, the reasoning behind the delay, O2 wants to make sure users have a “great experience.” Or maybe that is just looking at the positive side because in reality — they discovered some bugs. But rest assured because “this is perfectly normal – bugs can appear in every form of software.”
“We’ve been testing the phone non-stop for weeks and have found some bugs in the software that, if they’re not fixed, means customers won’t have a great experience.”
Thankfully though, they are already working with Sony Ericsson in a effort to get this all under control. That said, while a new timeline was not offered, Sony Ericsson did offer to keep everyone updated “regularly.” Bottom line, the Xperia Play is not going to be available with O2 on April 1st. Though, judging from the way it looks and sounds, it does not appear that this delay will be all that long. One can hope anyway.
But more important, and aside from O2 and their fancy white Xperia Play — what about the other carriers. Are these bugs that affect O2 extras or bugs that affect the Xperia Play in general? That we are not sure, but worry not, we here at TFTS will keep an eye out for delay announcements from other carriers.
