Motorola Droid X Gingerbread Update Happening This Sunday?
Remember the Motorola Droid X? You know, the hottest Android handset made by Moto at least until the Atrix 4G and Droid Bionic came along? Well it looks like new Gingerbread rumors have started flooding the Internets which means that, even if they’re not true, Verizon might be ready to finally serve that much expected Android 2.3 update to its Droid X-carrying subscribers.

The Droid X was launched with Android 2.1 on board and then it was quickly upgraded to Android 2.2 Froyo. But once Google released Gingerbread, Verizon and Moto failed to come out with a similarly fast upgrade for this flagship device.
The Droid X is Motorola’s first 4.3-inch Android handset, and one of the best Android devices of 2010, so it’s about time it was served with its official Android 2.3 upgrade. The word on the street is that the official update will be rolled out on Sunday, March 27, at midnight. According to the rumor the first subscribers to get Gingerbread on the Droid X will be business customers followed by regular Janes and Joes next week.
Of course we have no way of backing it all up with a proper press release / announcement, but considering that we’re going to have plenty of Gingerbread-running handsets in the wild soon it’s about time Motorola and Verizon upgraded the Droid X. After all we do remember how long it took Samsung to bring Froyo to its Galaxy S handset and that’s definitely something Motorola doesn’t want to experience.
Unfortunately we don’t have any leaked Droid X Gingerbread builds for you at this time, but you’d be better off anyway waiting for the real deal whether it’s going to be released this weekend or not.
We’ll be back with more Gingerbread-related news for the Droid X, and for all the other hot Android handsets waiting for Android 2.3 to be rolled out, in the following days, so stick around, follow us on Twitter and subscribe to the feed to get all the hot info delivered to you in a timely fashion.
