CTIA 2011: Qello Shows Off Its Concert Film App
If you’ve priced concert tickets lately, you know what a nightmare it is. Hundreds of dollars just to get in and possibly end up standing (sitting if you’re lucky) in a mammoth crowd of people all screaming and cheering so loudly that you’re lucky if you even hear the music. But if you’re a Motorola Xoom user–and you may want to be after this–you’ll have a whole new option thanks to the Qello concert film app.

You may not have heard of Qello, but if you’re a concert buff, stay tuned. Qello, you see, has access to a huge number of concert films, and all in high definition. They actually have the largest such library, and it’s exclusive, which means you’re not likely to find this stuff anywhere else. And their range is pretty extensive, too–they’ve got concerts from The Rolling Stones all the way up to Eminem shows, and more coming in all the time.
The Qello App, meanwhile, lets you see those concerts on the Motorola Xoom and in that full HD, to boot. And on the off chance you want to discover something new, you’ll be able to search Qello’s library by decade, genre, even artist name.
Oh, and since the Qello App is an Android app, you’ll be able to catch it on any Android device by mid-April. Right now at the CTIA show, though, it’s running on only a Xoom and a Motorola Atrix 4G. But soon enough, even Apple will get in on the action as an iOS version will be along directly after.
I don’t mind telling you, this is an exciting idea. Pretty much everything we’re seeing these days is ensuring that, one day, home theater will take pride of place over pretty much every other form of media. You want a concert? Stream it at home. Movies? You have a whole library…at home. And if you don’t have the one you want? Stream it! No more going to venues crammed full of people and paying ludicrous prices to see a bunch of overpaid actors or musicians. Every entertainment option you could ever want close at hand. Now isn’t that the point of gadgetry to begin with?
